Try this simple Lemon-Ginger tea recipe during the colder months to alleviate cold and flu symptoms and help protect your body from external pathogens.
Ingredients:
4 oz. sliced ginger root
3 TB lemon juice (freshly squeezed if possible)
2-3 tsp honey
a dash of cayenne pepper (optional if spice is well tolerated)
Add sliced ginger to 3-4 cups of water in a pot.
Bring to boil and them cover the pot and simmer on low-medium heat for 20 mins. Turn off the heat and allow the decoction to sit for another 5 - 10 minutes. In a mug, pour ~8 oz. of the ginger tea decoction and stir in lemon juice, honey and a dash of cayenne pepper.
Drink once a day for preventative health or 2-3 times daily at the onset of cold or flu symptoms (omit cayenne pepper if you have digestive issues or are sensitive to hot spices.)
Enjoy and stay healthy!
